Kahurangi Group

On Thursday 17th May our whole school was treated to a stunning performance by the Kahurangi Dance Group. They sang hamonious waiatas, and performed exciting Maori legends. We thought they had alot of energy and showed great expression and love of what they were doing.

Daisy and Claire made a movie to show what they saw

Animoto Videos

We have been making videos on the website www.animoto.com
We worked in pairs and used the interactive whiteboard to make the videos. After we made a video we were the teachers to the next pair.

The skills that we have learnt are:
  • Choosing appropriate music
  • Inserting pictures and videos
  • Editing the length of videos
  • Inserting text and a title
Here is Aimee and Bella's video

The website requires a login. We have used mine. To view the other children's videos come and see them in  the classroom or I can email you them.

We listened to Hansel and Gretel. We drew maps by listening to clues from the story. We drew paths that they travelled in the story. Here are some examples of maps that we drew.

As part of Inquiry we are learning about gold. Write everything that you know about gold....

http://customization.answergarden.ch/28838
Write everything that you know about gold.... at AnswerGarden.ch.
Room 7 have been borrowing ideas off other writers and using them in their own writing. Here are a few examples.

The following poems are written after reading a poem by James K Baxter. The poem was about a town he grew up in.

Hawea Flat

Hawea Flat is usual enough; it has
a school, bike park, playground
and tennis court.
My brothers and friends do what boys do-
play on the bike park, on the playground,
soccor and tennis,
doing nothing important.

Lake Hawea

Lake Hawea is usual enough; it has
a pub, a library, a lake, a sky over it,
and even a dam.
Minnie, Aneka, Rata and I do what girls do-
play on the maple, splash at the lake,
play netball, chase Rata and Ashley,
Doing nothing important.

Lake Hawea

Lake Hawea is usual enough; it has
a lake, a park, and even a shop.
My brother and I do what girls do- making crafts,
baking with Bernie, watching movies,
doing nothing important.
