Bush Creek

Hopefully you all managed to see the production. We have had a busy term working towards our performance. We have learnt the following things during this process.

- Accepting others view points by listening and valuing their ideas to work together in creating a dance.

- The importance of practicing something to perfect it.

- Working as a team on and off stage.

- Respecting others by keeping quiet off stage.

- Performing a role on stage.

Martin Curtis came to our classroom and shared the process he took to write the song 'Kakapo'.

He wrote:
Martin Curtis came to school and played two songs. The first was 'Kakapo', the second was 'Gin and Raspberry.'

As we sit down with no talking the band played a signal. Then all the kids stood up. As we stood up we couldn't talk. We walked on the stage with no talking. We went on our tippy toes with our hands out in front of us. We got into a 'V'. Then we did a dance. After our dance all the parents clapped as we walked off stage. Then it is the next classes turn.

The noses smelt like paint, but I got over it. The first time it took to long for all of us to put our costumes on. We had to be quick. So the boys have ears and the girls don't. They wore leotards, egg cartons for noses, with tails that belonged to Kindergarten and leggings. The boys wore Mackenzie and Monty's headbands with brown rat ears on them.
