Fun with our buddies!

oom 8 love working with our buddies. We test them on their spelling words and listen to them read regularly. Today we taught them our new learning around the Ancient Olympics. We made Olive leaf crowns.
Did you know that in the Ancient Olympics the winners got a sacred olive leaf crown and 1L of olive oil?

Science

Room 8 have been busy recording their observations when combining yeast, warm water and sugar. We took the experiment further by exploring our wanderings and completing our own experiments.

Please help!

James and his family are helping raise awareness of Foster Hope Otago and the lovely work that they do to help those children who are in foster care. A big thank you to all of the families who have brought in essential items to help those children who don't have things that we take for granted.

How can you help?

Foster Hope Otago provides backpacks full of essential items to children going into Foster care in the Otago region, this includes Oamaru to Invercargill and Central Otago.

They are running a toiletries collection drive to help get the final items remaining to make their next lot of backpacks, they are desperately short on the following items: toothpaste, sanitary products, wipes, nappies, hairbrushes and shampoo. There is a collection box in the school office.

They believe that every child should know that someone cares about them and these backpacks help make a difference to children during the first 24-48 hours as they transition into foster care.
