Writing

Here are a few examples of writing from class recently

The Bendigo Adventure
Late one Autumn at school, Monty, Carter, Aimee and I set off after snack in Bernie’s white truck with Mrs Allison and Bernie; in a convoy with the others in Room 7. We turned right into Bendigo on a dusty road, leaving Tarras behind. We drove up the hill of Bendigo. We twisted and turned up the hill until we got to Welshtown. All that was there were old broken down miners huts. We walked down the hill towards Logantown. We walked past mine shafts and the blacksmiths hut. We sketched it. We set off towards the Matilda battery, we threw stones down it and counted the time it took to get to the bottom. We finally got to Logantown and      settled down for lunch.

Have you ever felt winter?
Of course you have

I remember that time
Having hot chocolate in bed
Waking up and eating porridge
Putting on ski gear
Skiing down TC, doing jumps along the way
That was Winter

I remember that time
TC had a powder day
Fog smudged the landscape
Cold snow fell from the sky
The grass freezes and turned white
That was Winter

Printmaking

Little Red Riding HoodRapunzelCinderellaSnow White
We have been using Iris Steensma as our inspiration for printmaking. We looked closely at her artwork and the types of lines and colors that she uses. Her prints are usually seasons, fairy tales and childhood memories.

This video shows the process we went through to complete our printmaking. Photos will be uploaded next week.

Bendigo Trip

We all had a great time at Bendigo looking at the old miners huts and looking down at the mine shafts. Most of us threw stones down the shafts and listened to them hit the bottom, some took 8 seconds. We were amazed how much gravel and dirt (gangue) we still left in huge piles by the shafts littering the landscapes. We were suprised that two miners died by falling down the mine shafts.
We would like to thank Sue, Paula, Mike, Joel, Melissa and Bernie for driving us up there and being our group leaders, we wouldn't have been able to go without your help.

Comics

The children have been busy creating their own avatar cartoon characters on the http://www.bitstripsforschools.com website. They have their own log in that they can access from home. This weeks task was to create a comic explaining how gold is formed. Here are a few examples. Click on each one to make it larger.
